It is with broken hearts that we announce our beloved mom, Abby Lagarde Sanantonio, 83, peacefully went to be with our heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2024.

Abby was born as Abundia Lado Lagarde on February 27, 1941 in Duenas, Iloilo, Philippines.  She was also known as Oning or Auntie Oning to her family in the Philippines. Mom grew up in the Philippines and met our dad, Nathan Michael Sanantonio while he was stationed at Clark US Air Force Base. They settled in Port Charlotte, Florida in 1975 and raised all six children there.  Our mom retired from Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club after 20+ years. Mom was known by her family and friends as a sweet, strong, feisty, giving and caring mom, Lola, great Lola, sister, auntie/tita, cousin and friend. Throughout her lifetime, she helped in the care of her grandchildren who affectionately called her Lola. She was a great cook, especially with her Filipino dishes and learned how to make dad’s delicious spaghetti sauce.  Her favorite hobbies were watching her Filipino shows, spending time with family and friends, hitting the casinos and beating many at poker with her skilled poker face. Though we say goodbye to our beloved mom, sister, auntie, cousin she will forever live in our hearts.

She will be missed dearly by her surviving children and their spouses; Yoly Sanantonio Van Parys and Chris Van Parys, Rob and Sheila Sanantonio, Maryann Sanantonio Fritz and Doug Fritz, Vinny Sanantonio, Will Sanantonio, Joe and Meredith Sanantonio.  She will especially be missed by her eleven grandchildren; Jake and Tyler Van Parys, Shane and Lance Sanantonio, Caleb Fritz, Mikala, Micah and Aiden Sanantonio, Erin Gresham, Ethan and Macen Sanantonio and her four great grandchildren; Kiyo, Sora and Luca Van Parys and Ace Timmons.  Lola had a special and loving way with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her five siblings: Gloria Lado Lagarde, Primitiva “Ebith” Lagarde Flores, Anita “Anit” Lado Lagarde, Cipriano “Pering” Lagarde, Ramon Lagarde (Melanie) and survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the Philippines.  Abby was predeceased by her husband, Nathan Michael Sanantonio and her parents Custodia Lado Lagarde and Dominador Lagarde. She had a giving heart as she supported her mom (Lola) and sibling(s) during times of need.

A viewing will be held at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel on Thursday, November 21^st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 22^nd at 1:00pm at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, FL. Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, Florida.
