She was born in Middletown, CT on August 26, 1921 to Clarence and Charlotte Whitley. Adeline (Addie) graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown and attended Booth & Baylis Secretarial School and the University of Bridgeport. She was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Addie was employed as an executive secretary for the Bridgeport Brass Company and Exxon-Mobil. Upon retiring, Addie moved with her husband, Jack, to the Isles where she enjoyed traveling, dining out, swimming, and family visits. She was a volunteer for the Auxiliary Guild at Charlotte Regional Medical Center Hospital.
Addie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack Callahan; children, Tim Callahan of Stamford, CT, and Cheryl Higgins of East Boothbay, Maine; grandchildren, Kathryn Callahan, Kelly Callahan, and Colleen Higgins; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Callahan; and son-in-law Michael Higgins.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Homes Punta Gorda Chapel. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Burial will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
Memorial donations are suggested to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Homes, Punta Gorda Chapel.
