Charles Drago left a message on July 4, 2017:
In the late '70s through the mid '80s, Al helped me establish my standing as a jazz critic. He gave me my first opportunity to write liner notes for a major label release ("No Bass Hit" with Dave McKenna, Scott Hamilton, and Jake Hanna, on Concord). Al was a true gentleman and a warrior for jazz. He crossed my mind today, and I was saddened to learn of his passing. Love to Anna. Peace to Al.
John A Johnson and Linda D Herendeen left a message on June 24, 2015:
Al was a good friend and instrumental in the development of Hope Academy of Music. As the Founder of the Woody Herman Support Fund, Al contributed funds given in the name of Woody Herman for Hope Academy of Music. He was also a member of the Charlotte County Jazz Society. Last April 6, Al and his wife, Anna contributed greatly with a fund raiser for Hope Academy of Music at the Charlotte County Big Band concert honoring the music of Woody Herman. Al will be missed by his many friends and business acquaintences.
