October 15, 1973 - November 29, 2009

Born Alena Maree McCulloch on October 15, 1973 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Dennis F. and Lynn M. McCulloch, Alena, a student at Edison State College, Punta Gorda Campus and waitress for Perkins Restaurant in Port Charlotte, moved to Port Charlotte from her native Michigan in 1999. Alena recently completed Edison’s Nursing Degree Program and will be granted her Degree and Honored at the Pinning Ceremony next week. A single, hard-working and loving mother and daughter, she will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Kayla Lynn McCulloch, and parents Dennis F. and Lynn M. McCulloch, all of Punta Gorda; one brother, Alex McCulloch of TX; four sisters, Alexa McCulloch of England, Arica Essner of CA, and Angela Pelham and Amy Sharrock, both of MI; one nephew, Maverick, and three nieces, Brooke, Keelin and Elizabeth Ann.

I am so sorry to hear of Alena passing away. I remember all the years we spent together in choir in high school with her outgoing personality and willness to help others. My prayers and thoughts to your whole family.

I am truly blessed to have known Alena. I met her when we first began nursing school together 3 years ago at Edison State College. Alena was a great person. She was funny, smart, and showed caring and compassion toward everyone she crossed paths with. She worked very hard to make a life for her and her daughter, Kayla. I am so sorry to hear of Alena's passing. She was such a sweet, kind, and funny person. Even though we had lost touch since high school, I still remember her fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Alena was such a kind and caring person. I enjoyed getting to know her during nursing clinicals. She had a great sense of humor and would speak so lovingly about her daughter Kayla. My heart goes out to her family, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss, I was a classmate of Alex and Alexa but remeber spending time with your whole family through Campfire girls.

I am so sorry to hear that Alena has passed away. I fondly remember all of the sleepovers and Campfire Girls events with the whole McCulloch clan. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I still live in the Dundee area and think of you all every time I pass by your old house on Riley Street.

I met Alena in nursing school at Edison. The short time I knew her I quickly realized how sweet and genuine she was. Always had a smile everytime I saw her and a kind word to say, she will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss, there are not enough words to express this. May God bless you all.

Alena was my best friend. We shared many laughs and many tears together. She will be missed terribly by myself, Dameon and my children. I will always be here for Kayla for whatever she made need....never hesitate to ask. My prayers are with the family. I know that Alena is looking down on us and will watch over us until we can be with her again. Lynn and Dennis I love you both and want you to never forget what an impact your daughter had on so many people. To have Alena as a friend, was to be truly blessed. May GOD comfort you and give you strength.
