Allandro “Allan” Francis, 91, of Port Charlotte, Florida died, Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Bayfront Health Port Charlotte.

He was born August 7, 1922 in St. Mary, Jamaica to Jeremiah and Teresa Francis. He immigrated to the United States from England in 1971 and moved to Port Charlotte in 1995 from Brooklyn, NY. He was a retired pharmacy clerk and a member of the Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God where he was known by countless people as the “Candyman”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Amy Pearl Francis of Port Charlotte; a son, Mark Newby of Port Charlotte; a sister, Ena Francis of Brooklyn, NY; 2 brothers, Joseph (Hazel) Francis of Hollywood, FL and Egbert (Hyacinth) Francis of Rochester, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Friday, May 16, 2014 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.

His Journey's Just Begun By Ellen Brenneman Don't think of him as gone away-- his journey's just begun life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched... for nothing loved is ever lost-- and he was loved so much. My son, Colby, and I loved Allan's sense of humor. As he'd walk out to the mailbox, he'd always have something witty to say and was always smiling. We will miss him a lot, but know that he is now with his Heavenly Father and no longer in any pain. May God bless Amy and family.
