Alvin was born July 5, 1931 in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Ferdinand Williams and Margaret Daley Williams. He moved to London, England in the late 1950s, where he trained as a welder and where he and his wife Esmelda Lewis Williams raised their children. The family immigrated to New Jersey, USA in 1976 where Alvin continued to work as a welder until he retired to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1994. He was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
Alvin is survived by his loving family: his wife Esmelda Williams of Port Charlotte; three daughters, Beverly Shimaka of Laurel, MD, Brenda Williams of Brooklyn, NY, Sonia Williams of East Orange, NJ; a son, Hubert Williams of Port Charlotte FL; and three grandchildren, Cameron Gipson, Lela Shimaka and Mukosi Shimaka. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a wonderful circle of supportive friends.
