A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, February 27, 2018, at San Antonio Catholic Church at 24445 Rampart Blvd in Port Charlotte. Services will also be held in Ithaca at a later date, with burial to follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, NY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Albert.

Anna was born on April 23, 1921, in Ithaca, New York, to the late Stephan and Agnes (nee-Gyalog) Hancy. A retired accounting manager for the Ithaca Gun Company, Anna left her native Ithaca with her husband, Albert Edward Hammond, for Broomfield, Colorado, before moving to North Port, Florida in 1987 and eventually settling in Port Charlotte. She was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, the Women’s Guild of Port Charlotte, Senior Friends in Port Charlotte, and member of the National Association of Accountants. Anna also did volunteer work for Bon Secours – St. Joseph Hospital now Bayfront Health of Port Charlotte, and the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
Survivors include her children, son Thomas Hammond of Port Charlotte, and daughter, Madeline (Phillip) LaRocca of Ithaca, NY; one grandson, Fr. Frank LaRocca, and three granddaughters, Lynn, Laura and Lisa LaRocca; a sister, Clara Dale of Ithaca, NY, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Hancy, sisters Agnes Konetchny, Helen Whipple, and Mary Hancy, and her loving husband of 48 years, Albert.
