Barbara L. Koops, 67, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Sunday June 13, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice Port Charlotte House. She was born July 31, 1942 in Highland Park, Michigan and moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 from Farmington Hills, MI. She was a long- time Special Education Teacher for 31 years in Michigan and worked for Port Charlotte High School and Charlotte High School. She was a member of the Charlotte County Computer Group and the National Teachers Association.
Survived by her friend and companion, Philip Tinsley of Port Charlotte; a step son, Tom Koops of Michigan; Host of other relatives and friends in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, California and London, England. Preceded in death by her husband, Roger Leigh Koops
There will be a Funeral Service 2:00 PM Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel. Entombment will follow. Rev Jimmy Baylor will officiate.

So sorry to hear of Barb's passing. I taught with her at CHS for many years and when she transferred to PCHS she was a great mentor for my son as he was beginning his teaching career.

I will miss my dear, dear niece very much. She was not only my niece but also my friend. She was a beautiful lady with lots of love and compassion for all her family, friends and students and co workers. I enjoyed our talks so much and remember the last time we did talk. She touched many lives while working as a special ed teacher and they will always remember how sweet she was. She is in no pain now and is in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ and is walking on streets of gold. I will see her again and we will have plenty to talk about and she is probably reading this right now. She is at peace now and now knows how much she was loved by all. I was so blessed having her as my niece. I miss you already Barb. I am sorry I could not make it to your funeral but I will always remember you the way you looked when you were well. This sweet,gentle, softspoken friend will be missed dearly. Barb will be remembered by many of us as a most compassionate person, always wanting to do the right thing, and having that warm smile through it all. We are blessed for knowing her. May peace now be with her, her family and friends as she goes onto the next stage of a beautiful life.

Dearest Barb, I will so miss the good times, our morning chats, and remembering our dear mothers. I am truly thankful for all the memories we have shared together throughout our lives. You will truly be missed by many. You are in Gods care now. Rest in everlasting peace my dearest cousin, my dearest friend.

Sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. She was a good friend and always there to help , if needed.
