Barry Stephen Estep, 67, died on May 30, 2025, at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was a former resident of Hurley, Virginia and Pikeville, Kentucky.
Barry was born on May 17, 1958, to Lilly Mae Dotson Estep Hurd and Joseph Estep. He was adopted by his grandparents, Ollie Cook May and John Henry May. Barry has three children.
He was a retired coal miner and of the Christian faith. He attended Cornerstone Christian Church in Pikeville, Kentucky. Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman, car and motorcycle enthusiast, and drag car racer.
Barry was a Master Mason. He was a member and Past Master (2020) of the Thomas C. Cecil Lodge #375, Past High Priest of Pikeville York Rite Chapter #133, Past Illustrious Master of Council #96, and Past Commander of Commandery #45. He was a member of the El Hasa Shrine and former vice president of the Whitewater Shrine Club. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Anna O. Young Chapter #28.
He is survived by his children, Monica (Tristan) Estep-Foster and Barry Estep (children of the late Elizabth Ann Prater Estep), Amanda (Daniel Wheaton) Estep Kidd (daughter of Donna Fay Blankenship Estep), granddaughter, Abaigeal Foster, sister, Sherry Childress, biological father, Jospeh Estep, uncle, Ulvert Dotson, nephew, Christopher Childress, niece, Ashley Childress, and great-nephew, Wyatt Counts, as well as numerous family members, special friends, his Masonic brothers, and his three beloved dogs.
Barry is preceded in death by his biological mother, Lilly Mae Hurd, and adoptive parents, Ollie C. and Henry May.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Donate Life America. The generosity of his donor gave him extra years with his family. Plans for his Celebration of Life are still being finalized. The service will be held in Pikeville, KY.
