Bernice Furrow, 82, of North Port, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. She was born July 17, 1927 in Rabun County, Georgia and retired to Port Charlotte in 1987. She was a retail fashion manager with Rich’s, Macey’s, Gimbel’s and Casual Corner. She became very active in Republican politics, aiding three state representatives and various local candidates with their campaigns. She was secretary of the Charlotte Republican Party for seven years, two-time President of the Peace River Women’s Forum, and managed the Charlotte County Republican Party Headquarters for several years, She was a Methodist.
Survived by her loving husband, Marion Furrow of North Port; a daughter Sandra Stevens of GA; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; dear friends, Donna and Harvey Elliott of Port Charlotte and a host of friends.
There will be a memorial celebration for Bernice at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2009 at The Best Western Hotel in Punta Gorda. Rev. Sammie M. Brooks will officiate. Entombment will be private at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
