Dear Richard, Dawn and Misty, My heart and prayer goes out to you. Bertha was an amazing woman. She touched many hearts of children, moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers through her loving care and nurturing soul. She was a mentor to many family child care providers and gave to them her knowledge and guidance. To me she was an inspiration and a wonderful friend. It is truely an honor to have had her in my life. Always remeber that her body may be gone but her spirit lives on in the lives of the children, families and friends she has touched. Love, Marie

My thoughts and prayer go out to the family of Bertha. I met Bertha when my dauhter (Veronica) was only 6 months old and now she's 14 years, and just started High School. My daughter Veronica still remembers Bertha's warm and loving arms that always kept her safe at her day care. Bertha came into my life when I needed her most. Thank you Bertha. You will be missed by so many. God Bless

Bert's legacy can be found not only in her children and grandchildren, but in all the little lives she touched along the way. She was warm and sincere and I felt comfortable leaving Hayley in her care. A person like Bert doesn't come along everyday and she truly will be missed. Love to the family - Melissa and Hayley Sharrett.

Bertha and I have known each other for 20+ years. I worked with her when we both worked at the YMCA Child Care site in the babies room. We both became independent, licensed providers soon after that. We laugh at how we were the old timers at the meetings. Bertha always was devoted to her vocation to child care as well as her own children and husband. She was an inspiration to other providers and always shared her knowledge and ideas. Bertha will be missed by many but she has touched the hearts and minds of so many that she will live on by those that knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

My heart grieves me greatly by the passing of Bertha! I meet Bertha last year at the conference that the ELC held. Bertha and her husband Richard were so inviting they could make anyone feel that they were a part of their family. I am honored to have had a chance to spend time with her and the family sharing stories of her life at the hospital. I learned that she was so much more than a fellow provider. She was the epitome of what family child care should be in all our hearts. I was amazed at the lives she has touched, and how she changed the lives of the families and children she cared for. What a selfless act of love. Bertha, the legacy you leave behind will be one of great memories for many. Your life truely is a legacy. I will miss you greatly, but forever in my heart and mind! Richard my prayers are with you and the family that God will ease the pain of such a great loss.
