Betty June Cowardin, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

Betty, the precious wife of Pastor Fred Cowardin of the Berean Baptist Church was born March 2, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She and Pastor Cowardin were teenage sweet hearts, and they were married on June 18, 1953. Over the years they have lived in several states, including Arizona, Arkansas, Ohio and Florida. Betty Attended college at the North Eastern A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in elementary education.  She taught in three Christian schools for 30 years and was the loving, loyal and faithful pastor’s wife for 63 years.

Survived by her husband, Pastor Fred Cowardin; a son, Stanley Cowardin and daughter-in-law Rita Cowardin; two brothers, Timothy and Kinney Farris; a sister, Sue Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty leaves a testimony of love for her family, her Lord and her church. She has now left this earthly home and joined that great host of born-again believers and is now in the presence of the Lord.  (1^st Corinthians 5:6-9)

Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 AM, December 23, 2021 at the Berean Baptist Church, 17377 Godwin Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until service time at church.  Services will be live streamed on Facebook@BereanBaptistPortCharlotte.  Private interment will be in Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
