In his early years, Calvin attended Baker Academy (Punta Gorda, FL); Dunbar High School (Fort Myers, FL); and Charlotte High School (Punta Gorda, FL) where he graduated in 1967. Calvin joined the United States Army in June 1968 and served as an Aircraft Mechanic, Electrical and Radio Operator, however, was medically discharged in March 1969.
Calvin received Jesus Christ at an early age and throughout his life was a member of True Holiness Church of the Living God in Punta Gorda, FL and Sonshine Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, FL.
Anyone who knew Cal, knew of his love for fishing, but he also liked to hunt and work on cars. In his early twenties, he was part owner of a company that repaired race cars.
Calvin was a hard worker and worked various jobs until becoming employed by Charlotte County Public Works in 1982. He held multiple positions in which the last position he held was being a high-ranking Heavy Equipment Operator before he retired in 2003. He then started his own company, DAX Corporation for about ten (10) years, and in most recent years had a Handyman service. However, many around Charlotte County knew him from being a part of the Security Team at various establishments in town for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his sister Gertha L. Haddock Robison; and is survived by his remaining siblings, Mary Lois Smith and Rev. Ellison Haddock; four children, Calvin Haddock III, Christina (Derick) Graham, Stephen Haddock and Barbara Rouse; seven grandchildren – Derick Graham Jr (Jada), Krissta Ezell, Rakeen Alldredge, Kiyonna Lewis, Rashawn Jones, Marcus Lewis and Calvin Haddock IV, one great granddaughter (Melani Ezell); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00am at First Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 411 E. Charlotte Ave, Punta Gorda, FL.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.
