Carl W. Meyer, 77, a resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Punta Gorda.
Carl was born March 13, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Mildred and Carl Meyer. A graduate of the Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Carl enjoyed a successful career as a Civil Engineer and District Manager for Peter Kiewit Sons Construction Inc. and traveled extensively around the Eastern U.S. for the company until his retirement. He and his wife Elaine first moved to Punta Gorda from Conyers, Georgia in 1991, but enjoyed their summers in Highlands, North Carolina where they were members of Highlands Fall Country Club. Carl, an avid Golfer, was a member and past President of the St. Andrews South Golf Club in Punta Gorda.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; three children, sons Paul (Meg Hansen) Meyer and Larry (Amy) Meyer, and daughter, Sandi (Moe) Trebuchon; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Robert Meyer.
The Meyer family invites friends to join them for a visitation Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home, 215 Mary Street in Punta Gorda. A private celebration of life will be held by the Meyer family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local chapter of St. Vincent de Paul, or a charity of choice.
