Catherine “Kay” Corrigan, 74, of Port Charlotte, FL, and late of Burbank, IL and Dublin, Ireland. She passed away on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, after a brief illness.
Kay was born on a Monday, December 27th, 1948, in Kilmainham Dublin. Beloved wife of Kevin, Daughter of Sid & Mary Yaverbaum, Loving mother of sons; Gerard (& Jennifer), and Colm. Daughters; Maeve (& Jason), Áine (& Cathal), and Aideen. Grandmother of 13 wonderful grandchildren. Sister to Anne, Pat (& Collette), Paul (& Tina), and Jean.
She met her future husband in 1968 on an unplanned blind date arranged by her best friend and first cousin Terry Mullaney (Nee Hogan). They were happily married for 54 years and were each other’s soulmates and best friends. She was an avid reader, had a special gift in knitting with a passion for Irish Aran sweaters. She loved celebrating everyday life with all she met. She started her marriage in Carbury Co. Kildare, Ireland, before emigrating to America, with her husband and five children in 1986. She lived in Burbank IL for 35 years before retiring to Florida in 2021.
Services will be held at Roberson Funeral Homes Punta Gorda Chapel, located at 215 Mary Street in Punta Gorda, FL, on Saturday, April 1st, at 1pm EST. Her remains will later be repatriated to Ireland, date to be announced.
