He was born August 1, 1938 in Jamaica, West Indies and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989 from New Haven, Connecticut.
Survived by three daughters, Pamela M. James and her husband, Tony Spears of Hamden, CT; Dana Brooks of New Haven, CT and Jennifer Fletcher of Miami, FL; two sons, Lenworth James and Collin James both of Houston, TX; two sisters, Gladys Bowden of New Haven, CT and Lucille (husband-Clinton) Brown of Hamden, CT; a brother, Alfred Johnson of England; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac James and Sophia Thorpe, a brother, Robert Webb and a sister, Beryl Shaw.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 AM, September 23, 2011 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.
