I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with your family in your time of sorrow and sadness. I just want you to know that Chuck was more to me than a resident, he was a friend. He was someone who I looked up to and he was a very special and caring man. I feel very lucky to have known him and to have had him in my life. You will never know how much he influenced me in the time that I have worked at the home. We shared many talks and he was a very good listener with lots of advice. He was someone who cared about everyone and would advocate for what he felt was right. I want you to know that I spent time in his room the day of his passing, the last thing I told him was I would see him in the morning. I would like to think that he knew I was there. I just wanted to assure you that he was not alone and that we all would go and be with him because he meant so much to us all. There is now a void in which no one will ever fill or take his place. Chuck was unique and he is so missed. My heart is broken and I will never forget Chuck and everything he taught me in the time I was lucky enough to know him. I know he loved his family very much and also his VA "extended" family. We loved him too, very much. Thank you for allowing us to take care of him and to be able to get to know such a wonderful and caring person who in turn taught each of us something different about life. We will pray for you and your family. RIP Chuck, I will miss you.
