Claude Andrew “Andy” Johnson, Jr., 73, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, July 22, 2027, at his Port Charlotte residence.

Born on September 24, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a United States Air Force veteran, song writer, and Harley rider. Andy was proud of his master’s degree in science management from the University of Southern California while in the Air Force. He received a Certificate of Appreciation for the service in the Armed Forces in the United States and a Speech Award Professus trans education in Clark Air Force Philippines. He worked in quality control after he retired from the military. He sponsored students in the Philippines to further their studies.  Raised in Fern Creek, KY. Predeceased by his father, Claude Johnson, Sr., mother, Mildred Elliott Johnson, brother, Larry Riggs, and nephew, Trae Riggs.

Andy is survived by his wife, Shirley Asido Johnson and Shirley’s family, Amor and Puno, Donise Harris (Moe), Herman Riggs, Tamara Robinson, John Johnson (Mary), nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

We remember Andy, free of pain, riding his Harley with friends to the Washington monument, thru the Black Hills to Sturgis, and enjoying his home in Florida. His spirit is expressed through songs such as experiencing hurricanes going over head and the breeze blowing through his hair as he lives in eternity. His memory lasts with fellow service members, friends, and family across the world. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged in support of Wounded Warriors, Hospice, and your local music store that assists local artists.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM, August 14, 2026, at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.  Interment with military honors by a US Air Force Honor Guard will follow Friday 2:30 PM, August 14, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
