Daniel Chiara, 97, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at home.
Daniel was born December 6, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Michael and Salvatrice (Giannoni) Chiara.Daniel was U.S. Army veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was Purple Heart and Bronze Star Recipient. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1985 from Brooklyn with his wife Dorothy who died in 1997. Daniel was a retired bank manager. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Charter member of the Elks Lodge #2763 of Deep Creek, the Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 110 of Port Charlotte.
Survived by his loving family, a son, Michael P. (Elizabeth “BJ” ) Chiara of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Linda Chiara (Chris) Hogan of Sarasota, FL.
Military honors will be held Friday 12 Noon, Sept. 17, 2021 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel by American Legion Post #110. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Friday 1:00 PM, Sept. 17th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
