Daniel John Poje, 67, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013.
He was born September 6, 1945 in Conneaut, Ohio, to Jeanne (nee-Sumser) and Stanley Poje. Daniel, a graduate of Conneaut High School and New York City School of Electronics, returned to his native Ohio where he worked for General Electric Company in Nela Park, OH before owning and operating his own Union 76 Service Station in Mentor Headlands, OH. He later sold his business and moved on to the R.W. Sidley Mack Truck Dealership in OH, and the Steele Truck Center in Fort Meyers, FL, after moving to Port Charlotte from his native Ohio in 1998. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon M. Poje; two sons, Kurt and Kenny Poje; a sister, Kathi (Mike) Bradey; two nieces, Kelly (Eric) Hammond and Traci Vogler; and a grand nephew, Kyle Hammond. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Jeanne and Stanley.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. with evening Wake Service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, and Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. A private committal will be held at a later date.
