Danny Montee, 79, of Punta Gorda, Florida, entered eternal peace on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024.
Born April 13th, 1945, he was the treasured son of Louis and Climena (Greer) Montee. He spent his childhood adventuring, learning, and raising hell in Racine, WI. Danny was a lifelong patriot, first evidenced by his volunteering to enlist in the Army at 17 years old, knowing he would see combat in global theaters. Soon after earning his Paratrooper Jump Wings, he was deployed to support democracy during the Dominican Republic civil war. Thereafter he was deployed to Vietnam, where he served with valor. Following his return home and honorable discharge from the Army, he raised his family and began his 30-year career at SC Johnson Wax.
Danny was a man of many interests and talents, what he did not know he learned on his own or from anyone who would teach him. He was a craftsman, building his family home in Burlington, WI where his hobbies came to life. His hobbies included SCCA racing, where he was a 2-time national champion and building a boat and multiple aircraft in his home shop. Dan was proud of the family home and hosted countless parties, holidays, and celebrations, never wanting to miss an occasion to gather with family and friends. Upon retiring to Florida, Danny continued in his passion for adventure by sailing, diving, spear fishing, and cruising the beautiful Florida waters. A true competitor, he took on the challenge of dragon boat racing, ultimately becoming a world champion and an Olympic qualifier.
Danny is survived by his dedicated and loving partner Tammy Trombley; children, Babette Montee, Bonnie Bauman, Becky (Ed) Lowell, Nichole (Randy) Mittelstaedt, and Christopher (Stacy) Spaight; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Grace, Steven (Jolene) Kojis, Summer Peterson, Andrew (Ashley) Weis, Mitchell (Kellsie) Weis, Lane (Omar) Ornelas, Brynn (George) Opelt, Bailey (Ben) Bates, Bridget (Logan) McDivitt, Isabella Mittelstaedt, Sadie Mittelstaedt, Savannah Mittelstaedt, and Sawyer Spaight. He is further survived by 9 great-grandchildren and counting.
