David Eugene Capion, 90, of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice.
David was born on January 14, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa to the late Gypsy and Carl Capion. He married Mary M.(Frame) in 1955. Dave and Mary had three daughters, Connie, Cathy, and Carol. Mary preceded Dave in death in May of 2003.
David proudly served in the Unites States Army for 26 years achieving the rank of Command Seargent Major. Serving two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea he received many accommodations during his service. David was a member of “The Band of Brothers”.
He married Grace Squires, and they made their home in Port Charlotte, Florida. They both resided there with their cat “Star” until Grace’s death in 2023. Upon her death David moved in with his daughter Carol in The Villages, Florida until his passing.
David’s pride and joy were his seven great Grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and tending to his roses.
He is survived by his three daughters and sister Janice Engler(Capion).
A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on June 18, 2025, at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice in Wildwood, Florida.
