David Michael Dermer, Sr, son of the late Phillip Dermer and Olive Lee (Hale) Dermer, born on November 9, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away at his Port Charlotte residence on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
Dave graduated from Southfield High school in Southfield, Michigan in 1971. After moving to Florida, he went on to be a student of the very first graduating class for electrical contracting at the VoTech in Port Charotte, FL in 1980. He completed his 4-year apprenticeship with Boehm Electric in Charlotte County and North Florida Hospital in Alachua County and became a licensed electrician in 1984 when he opened Standard Electric. Dave moved back to Michigan in 2001 where he worked for the local IBEW 58 until he retired.
Dave had three children, Robert William, David Michael Jr, and Amanda Louise. He was a hardworking provider for his family. His hobbies included collecting precious metals, from coins (particularly wheat stock pennies) to copper wire and aluminum cans.
Dave who was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Olive Dermer, entered his final moments with his loving son, David Michael Dermer Jr. He is survived by his children, Robert (Christel) Dermer and Amanda (Julian) Beverly. He is also survived his brother Daryl Dermer, and 6 beautiful grandchildren – Adam Salvatore Dermer, David Michael Dermer III, Kaitlyn Laine Dermer, Aiden James Dermer, Lisa Rose Beverly, and Mathieu William Beverly.
