Dear Family, Friends and Staff of Dennis, I was shocked to hear the sad news. I wish you all the very best during this difficult transition.
A friend from the National Speakers Assoc. Academy.
Dear Debbie,
How very saddened and shocked I am to hear of this terrible tragedy and your family's loss. It was six weeks ago today that we shared a limo at Woody Oakes' Seminar in Destin where we were both speaking. You, Dennis and I shared so much in that one hour ride. I also looked forward to spending more time with two of the nicest people I've met in my 28 years of travel!
Dennis was one of those rare jewels of a person. If you met him once, you knew he was kind, compassionate and a fine dentist and person. He was also a wonderful family man.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. And also the task ahead of you is never greater than the power behind you.

The question is: How can we possibly go on from here without him? A poem for your grief.
Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room,I am I and you are you;
Whatever we were to each other, That we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, Speak to me in the easy way which you always used,
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we shared together.
Let my name ever be the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well.

Debbie, I remember the first time you met Dennis and came home telling me about this handsome dentist, new to town and my age. I thought how thoughtful she is to look for a guy for me, and you said, no sweetie, sparks flew when we saw each other and he is the one for me forever. Well, forever came too soon and we are so sorry. He left holes in so many hearts
and beautiful smiles in many others.

Dear Debbie and Laney,
I am so sad to hear about the loss of Dennis. We went to school from kindergarten through high school! Such a nice, smart guy, everyone knew him and liked him and you just knew he would be successful. I remember meeting you at our 20th reunion, and he had you taking pictures of him with some of us oldies. As I read his obituary, and looked at his websites, his many accomplishments seemed so typical of him, such a bright, resourceful, ambitious, talented person. I am so sad to hear the news and my prayers are with you all. I am truly sorry.
With unexpected suddenness, death has come among us. His death has robbed us of a Good Man. It is far too soon. The shock of Dennis’s death is visibly and profoundly felt by all with whom he has touched.
We will all feel the severe loss deeply, but some small measure of consolation may be found in the words of the poet, Walt Whitman:
He is not gone. He is just away,
With a cheery smile and the wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land,
And left us wondering how very fair that land may be, since he tarries there.
To Debbie, Laney and Family – Our Prayers are with you and for you…
Debbie and Laney,

DEAR DEBBIE, IM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS. DENNIS SEEMED SO NICE WHEN WE MET HIM AT THE FAMILY REUNION A FEW YEARS AGO. HOLD ON TO ALL THOSE GOOD MEMORIES THAT YOU HAVE. TRUST IN THE LORD AND HE WILL GET YOU THRU THIS SORROWFUL TIME. LOVE, MIKE, JENNIFER AND MATTHEW DALRYMPLE
Dear Debbie, Laney and family,
While words seem so inadequate we have to let you know how much Dennis meant to us personally and to our profession. Teaching at the Pankey Institute is a great honor mostly because we are blessed to associate with truly great people. Dennis was truly a giant among them, mostly measured by the size of his heart. I know we, as others, will miss his caring spirit, his adventurous attitude, his love of life and his deep concern for others. We will miss him greatly but will think of him almost daily because of the gifts he left behind.
As I think of his passing I am reminded of a ship representing his life sailing toward the horizon and the enourmous wake he leaves behind because of who he was. And I look forward to a time when we will meet again on that distant shore.
May God's love be with you at this difficult time and always.
Jim and Vickie Otten
Dear Debbie-
We first met you and Dennis working on the Project Graduation for CHS in 2003. We were so impressed by your friendliness, enthusiasm and can-do attitude. Project Graduation was Dennis' baby and what a wonderful cause to promote. What you two have done for the community and the youth of Punta Gorda will never be forgotten! Dennis has a wonderful legacy in what he has given to his community. We feel a terrible sense of loss, but it is nothing to compare to your personal loss. We send our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Our hearts are hurting for you and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Ron and Dianne
