He was born November 29, 1954 in Youngstown, Ohio and moved to
Florida 24 years ago from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a well respected dentist and owned Comprehensive Dental Medicine in Port Charlotte. Dr. Munholand was a graduate of Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio and received his Doctor Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Western Reserve University School of Dentistry, Cleveland, OH. He received his Masters of Business Administration Degree (M.B.A.) from IMPAC University, Punta Gorda. He was a member of the American Dental Assn., the Florida Dental Assn., the West Coast Dental Assn., the Charlotte County Dental Society where he served as Charter President from 1990-1992, the Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Southern Academy of Oral Surgery, where he served as President in 1997-1998, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, and the Assn. for Contemporary Dental Education. He was a visiting faculty member at the Pankey Institute, Key Biscayne, FL. He was the developer of a computer software program called “Revenue Goal Planner” and worked hard to share his knowledge and help other dentists improve their practices.
Dr. Munholand received numerous awards and fellowships in the field of
Dentistry. He was member of the National Speakers Association and spoke to dentists
and their teams at various association meetings and study clubs worldwide. He was
the Charter President of the Harbor Heights-Peace River Rotary Club and was named
Rotarian of the Year by his club in 2000 and Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Munholand was
part of the inception and Chairman of Project Graduation at Charlotte High School serving from 2000 to 2007. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was advocate for youth in the community. His hobbies included traveling, scuba diving, photography and teaching.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 18 years, Debra C. Munholand of Sarasota; his daughter, Laney (husband- Adam) Walter of Port Charlotte; a brother, Bart (wife-Leeann) Munholand of Sidney, NY; his parents, Howard and Helen Munholand of Struthers, OH; his mother-in-law, Mary Cousins of Sarasota, FL; a sister-in-law,

It was six weeks ago today that we shared a limo at Woody Oakes' Seminar in Destin where we were both speaking. You, Dennis and I shared so much in that one hour ride. While words seem so inadequate we have to let you know how much Dennis meant to us personally and to our profession. Teaching at the Pankey Institute is a great honor mostly because we are blessed to associate with truly great people. Dennis was truly a giant among them, mostly measured by the size of his heart. I know we, as others, will miss his caring spirit, his adventurous attitude, his love of life and his deep concern for others.
