I AM SO GREIVED TO HEAR OF DIANA'S PASSING. WHEN DIANA AND HER FAMILY MOVED TO PORT CHARLOTTE AND THE GIRLS STARTED SCHOOL AT PEACE RIVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, I WAS ASSIGNED TO BE HER "BUDDY" TO SHOW HER AROUND AND JUST BE A FRIEND TO A NEW GIRL IN SCHOOL. DIANA COULD NOT SPEAK MUCH ENGLISH AT ALL, SO WE SOON LEARNED HOW TO COMMUNICATE. I WILL NEVER FORGET HER TAKING SPELLING TESTS BECAUSE SHE COLD NOT WRITE THEM IN ENGLISH AND THE TEACHER HAD THE WORST TIME TRYING TO GRADE HER PAPER. WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND I BROUGHT HER TO MY GIRL SCOUT MEETINGS AND I OFTEN WENT HOME WITH THE TERENZIS AFTER SCHOOL. THERE WOULD BE SOME MUCH TALKING IN GERMAN IN THE CARE AND OFTEN SOME ARGUING BETWEEN THE GIRLS. I WOULD BE FASCINATED JUST LISTENING TO IT ALL. I CAN STILL REMEMBER HOW TO SAY CLOSE THE WINDOW IN GERMAN1 HA! I WILL NEVER FORGET HER BEAUTIFUL FACE AND THAT WONDERFUL LAUGH OF HERS. WE WERE FRIENDS ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND AS WE STARTED RAISING OUR KIDS. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LADY SHE WAS. I WILL TRULY MISS HER BUT I KNOW SHE LEFT A VERY BIG FOOTPRINT ON THE EARTH WITH ALL HER WONDERFUL QUALITIES. LOVE YOU DIANA. MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO YOU, DENNIS AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY.

For "Gisela" Ich liebe dich! Diane & I became friends in German class. Although everyone "knew" each other in our class, Diane & I bonded in German class. An "unlikely" friendship at first glance, we just liked each other! My husband & I moved to Idaho in 1979 so our contact was limited. However, on visits to Fl. I would stop by the showroom to visit and we would catch up. Dennis,Gina, Nikki,Susan,Ramona, & Vicki my heart is breaking for you. Diane was truly one of a kind and I will always appreciate being a part of her life first with her parents and sisters and later with Dennis and her girls. She will always be in my heart! Prayers and love to the family. Sisti Stephenson O'Connor

Diane and I had so many memories. She was one of the first girls I met when I moved to Port Charlotte in 1968 and we became fast friends. She and I decided we wanted to go riding around one night, so we rolled her parents car out of the driveway and we went riding around. Well, her parents got a call that the laundry mat that they owned had caught fire and when they went to get the car, you guessed it, it was gone.. Boy, did we get in a lot of trouble for that one. She was one in a million. She always looked so perfect. God now has another angel in heaven. We will all be together again some day. Diane, I love you... Dennis and the girls, my heart goes out to you. Many prayers go your way. Sue Allen

Leah Carey Lamb left a message on February 20, 2012:
Diane....I will always remember you for your kindness to others and for the loving mother you were to your girls. I enjoyed my time as a teen with you and your family babysitting and helping you with things in your home like ironing, running to the store for you and standing there in the kitchen helping you prepare salads etc. for a dinner that night. I always felt a part of the family, like a daughter, not just a babysitter. You allowed me the chance to make some very fun memories with Nikki and Gina that I still talk about to this day. You gave to those less fortunate. I always respected your big heart and compassion for everyone no matter their circumstances. I admired your beauty inside and out. Inside, being your love, sweetness, concern and selfless-ness. Outside, for your skin, eyes, gracefulness and just you as a whole. You have left behind so many that love you, but so many that you have touched and inspired and that is the most important thing to do and you certainly did it with style and grace. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to be able to feel a part of your family. I remember you told me you had designed the house (the one I babysat in) to fit around the trees so you did not have to take so many of them down. You just loved so much...nature, kids, people in general and just loved life! I truly learned so much from you, from putting ice in a vase of fresh flowers, to keep them fresh longer, to thinking of others before myself. You are a wonderful wife, sister, daughter, mother and role model for so many. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of many. You are an angel in Heaven....without a doubt. Love always, Leah Carey Lamb

To Dennis and the Lombardo family. I am so sorry for your loss. The first time I met Diana, she said, "I want to cut your hair!". That was a long time ago when I had hair! But I always remember Diana as a warm and wonderful person and everyone who knew her would say the same. She will be missed.

To the Lombardo Family, We're deeply sorry for your loss. Diana will be dearly missed but she will be remember always as one of the most beautiful and kind person we had ever met and had the opportunity to shared time as a friend and a co-worker. I'm thankful for the opportunity I had to be able to work with her at the Gallery and see first hand how she could put colors selections together to make house feel like a home. This is not surprised to anyone that knew Diana since she always looked flawless and classy no matter when you saw her. Thank you Mrs. Lombardo (Diana) for all the great memories and we will always remember you and be in our hearts. The Fernandez Family.

I treated Diana for her lymph edema after her mastectomy. Since I am a breast cancer survivor myself, we shared a common bond and got to really enjoy our weekly visits together. Diana was such an amazingly beautiful woman inside and out. It has been two years since I last saw her and she was often in my thoughts and prayers that all was going well. Blessings to the family and know in your hearts that though she is missed she is now at peace.
