Dolores O’Brien Brown, 93, of Punta Gorda, Florida, departed this earth surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Dolores was born in Paterson, New Jersey, the daughter of Frank M. and Jennie Mae (née Van Ness) O’Brien, on March 11, 1932. Dolores was married to John P. Brown on August 10, 1951, and moved to Mahwah, New Jersey with her family. She worked in Avon products and Ciba Geigy before moving to Punta Gorda, Florida in October of 1979. Dolores then worked for the Charlotte County School System from 1980 until 1993.
Dolores was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter No.82, was a Past Commander and member of the O.E.S. of Rockland County, New York, and was a member of the Punta Gorda Moose Lodge No.1693 Chapter No.777.
Dolores is survived by son Dennis J. Brown and daughter Kathleen Brown; she is also survived by many grandchildren, granddaughters Denyse, Amy, and Kelly, and grandsons Matthew Miszewski, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Jennie Mae, a sister Mae and a brother Jackie, her first husband John Paul Brown in 1999, her second husband Curtis Ray Hayter in 2017, and a son, John P. Brown in 2024.
A Memorial service to celebrate Dolores’ life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home located at 2151 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, Florida. Committal will be held on Tuesday, July 15, at 11:00 AM at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida, where she will be laid to rest with her first husband John.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetic Society, or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Dolores C. Brown.
