Donald Alan Whittaker Jr., (51), of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his home.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Alan Whittaker, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend and proud U.S. Marine. Born on October 28, 1973, in Trenton, NJ, Donnie spent his early years in the Garden State before moving to Florida with his mother and two sisters, where he built a life filled with cherished memories, lasting friendships and service.
A disabled Marine, Donnie served his country with honor and resilience. His unwavering dedication to his fellow Marines and to his nation was a source of immense pride for him and his family. Despite the challenges he faced, he carried himself with dignity and a strong spirit that inspired everyone who knew him.
Donnie had a deep love for the water, finding peace and joy in boating and fishing. He also had a competitive spirit and could often be found around a poker table, laughing and strategizing with his closest friends. A loyal Miami Dolphins fan, he never missed a game and proudly wore the aqua and orange, cheering on his team through every season. His passion for life extended to concerts, where he immersed himself in the music that moved him. He had a sweet tooth that was hard to miss, often savoring his favorite desserts with a perfect cup of coffee in hand. Above all, he adored his family, treasuring every moment spent with them and showing his love in countless ways.
Donnie will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his unwavering loyalty, and his kind heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and wonderful memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving family, including, his sons, Donald Alan Whittaker III and Austin James Whittaker; his granddaughter Kali Whittaker; his mother Catherine Ryan Karas; his sisters Stephanie Campbell (spouse John Campbell) and Candice White (spouse Jason White); his nieces, Kirsten Campbell, Kayleigh White; his nephews, Kyle Campbell, Koen Campbell, Cameron White, Riley White and Mason White; many aunts and uncle: many cousins; and close friends, Terry Bodecker, John Morreale, Jimmy Cain, Jeremy Sutter and Jeff Hanna. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Alan Whittaker.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 2:00pm -3:00pm at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Services to follow at 3:00pm.
