Donald Joseph White, 80, of North Port, Florida died Monday, September 28, 2020 at home.
Donald was born May 27, 1940 in Princeton, New Jersey. He moved to North Port in 1994 from Lawrenceville, NJ. He was a retired Police Officer from the Trenton Police Department. Don was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving 12 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He volunteered his time with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department, the Young Marines of North Port, and the local Marine Corps League Detachment #948.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Margaret “Peggy” A. White of North Port, FL; a daughter, Frances (Lance) Tandy of Albemarle, NC; two sons, Donald J. (Cassandra) White, Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL and Jared White of Clearwater, FL; a step-daughter, Amy Couch of Punta Gorda, FL; two step-sons, Michael Couch and Ryan Couch of North Port, FL; two brothers, Rev. Robert White and Walter (Denise) Forker of Venice, FL; his mother, Mary Forker of Venice, FL; 8 grandchildren, Kimberly Couch, Krystal Couch, Cayden White, Hunter White, Brooke Vitti, Drew Vitti, John Tiernan, and Jessica Ames, and several great grandchildren.
Committal services and interment with military honors by a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard will be held Tuesday 11:30 AM, October 13, 2020 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
