Mr. Donald (Don) F. McNaney, 68, of Punta Gorda, Florida’s Deep Creek, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center hospital in Punta Gorda.
Born on September 25, 1940 in Utica, New York, Don, a retired printer for the State of New York’s Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica for 35 years, lived in Floyd, New York until relocating to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1998. He was a life long member of the Boy Scouts of America and Past Scout Leader, volunteer firefighter and Past Fire Chief of the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department in Floyd, NY, and member of the Port Charlotte B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2153.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Murphy McNaney; children, sons, Thomas (wife; Joann) McNaney, Mark (wife; Karen) Murphy, John (wife; Claire) Murphy, and Joseph (wife; Kristin) Murphy; daughters, Laurie (husband; Tim) Joslyn, Colleen (husband; Jay) Brinker, Mary Ellen Murphy, and Katherine Murphy; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas (wife; Judy) McNaney, and Richard (wife; Pauline) McNaney; two sisters, Carolyn (husband; Philip) Dellwo, and Barbara (husband; Carl) Thurnau; 11 nieces and nephews; Don’s life long friend, John Porter, his many friends and staff of Charlotte Regional Medical Centers 1st Floor West, and faithful K-9 companion, Mac.
