Donna Holden Barratt, 74, of Punta Gorda, FL and Scarborough, ME passed away peacefully Monday, June 4, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Donna was born in Rochester, NY where she attended Brighton High School and later received a B.S. degree from Michigan State University. Don’s employment took them to numerous cities across the country. Along with being a homemaker, Donna taught elementary education, designed and manufactured a cloth child’s book sold along the east coast, sold a line of women’s clothing and was a CASA guardian ad litem. In retirement, she enjoyed golfing, boating along the Maine coast and traveling.
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald; son, David (Claudia) Barratt of Exton, PA; two daughters, Kim (Philip) Prescott of Littleton, CO and Nancy (Matthew) Moriarty of Parker, CO; two sisters, Trudi McKeeby of E. Brunswick, NJ and JoAnna Sheridan of Queensbury, NY; and 6 grandchildren.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection in memory of Donna will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Punta Gorda, FL. Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, 3760 Fowler Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
