Dorette Marielyn Cowan, 94, of Port Charlotte, Florida peacefully passed away on May 3, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte.
Dorette was born on March 22nd,1931 to the late Eunice Reid and Bagee Stephenson in Stapleton, St Mary, Jamaica. Dorette leaves behind her nieces Judy Knuff, Debra DePass and nephew Mark Leslie and wife Jennifer. She will also be missed and fondly remembered by close friends Laverne Sinkia, Saira Lone, Eulalee Jackson and Veronica Vieux.
Dorette was a Registered Nurse who was trained in the United Kingdom and graduated as a maternity nurse. She eventually returned to Jamaica in 1967 continued her nursing career, but would move to New York, then Texas with her final move to Florida in 1990.
Memorial services will be held at the Port Charlotte Global Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, Florida 33952 on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Florida.
