Dorothy L. Hurley, 82, of North Port, Florida died Wed. January 4, 2012 in Venice, Florida.
Dorothy was born June 19, 1929 in Castine, Maine to the late Ray and Ethel Howard. She was the youngest daughter of five children and the only daughter. She loved music and studied at Brynmore in Pennsylvania , Seattle Pacific and Washington State University and with several private tutors.
She was married to Lawrence “Larry” Hurley in Chicago, Illinois on April 18, 1952 and was a housewife while her children were growing up. While in Connecticut, she was a Certified Nurse’s Aide for 25 years. She and her husband moved to Florida in 2001.
Dorothy is survived by her loving family, her husband, Lawrence Hurley of North Port; two daughters, Sandra (Sam) Humphries of Parker, CO and Joyce (Joy) Guffy of Sarasota, FL; a brother, Kenneth Howard of Deer Isle, ME; three grandsons, Thatcher Graham of Phoenixville, PA, Corbin Graham of Holyoke, MA and Hurley Graham of Brooklyn, NY; and two granddaughters, Carrie Guffy and Stacy Guffy both of Arcadia, FL:
Memorial services will be held Saturday 2:00 PM,June 9, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Rev. Brian James will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 4955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
