Dorothy R. Strout-Snethkamp, 95, of North Port, Florida passed away Friday, May 8, 2015.
Dorothy was born the sixth of seven children to Alfred and Blodwin Wright on September 25, 1919 in Glen Lyon, PA. Dorothy worked as an accountant for Standard Brands and Lummus Engineering in New Jersey and was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, becoming Worthy Matron of the Lincoln Chapter. Retiring in Florida in 1984, Dorothy sang in the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church Choir for over twenty-five years. She enjoyed golf, bridge and ballroom dancing.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Dorothy A. (J. Arthur) de Silva; a grandson, David (Donna Jean) de Silva and 3 great-grandchildren, Adrian, Austin and Alexander. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, William A. Strout and her 2nd husband, Carl W. Snethkamp.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, May 22, 2015 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PCUMC Chancel Choir fund, 21075 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
