She was born July 30, 1918 in Lancaster, Minnesota to the late Sigrid Amanda Johansson Widerstrand and Charlie Widerstrand. Dorcye was a 1936 graduate of Lancaster High School. In 1942 she married James Aaron Hayes. She moved to Port Charlotte in 1976 from Hammond, Indiana with her husband James, who died in 1997. She has been a resident of Harbour Terrace since 2009. Dorcye loved the Lord, enjoyed music of all kinds and loved to reminisce with her friends. She was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Port Charlotte.
Survived by her loving family, a daughter, Karen L. Bennett of Arlington, VA; a son, James D. Hayes of Baldwin, MD; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Doryce’s life will be held Wednesday 2 PM, July 2, 2014 at Harbour Terrace, 23013 Westchester Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33980. Interment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
