Earl Anselm Goodwyne Jr., of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April, 24, 2025.
He was born in Arcadia, Florida on December 19th, 1946. Earl was raised in Punta Gorda by his parents, Earl Sr. and Lorraine Goodwyne. Earl attended Charlotte High School and was drafted into the United States Army upon graduation. Prior to his deployment to Vietnam, Earl married the love of his life, Sharon Lea Mann. After returning from Vietnam, Earl was stationed at Fort Stewart Georgia where he was assigned to the Third Army Pistol and rifle Team. Following his discharge from the Army, Earl and Sharon settled down in Punta Gorda. Earl was a plumber/pipefitter by trade for most of his life. He worked for mechanical and plumbing companies around Southwest Florida and eventually took a contract position in Angola, Africa for Chevron Oil. After retiring from plumbing, Earl started a career with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Earl managed protected lands until his retirement from the state.
Earl was an avid hunter, fisherman and firearms enthusiast who truly loved the outdoors. Earl shared many fishing, hunting and camping adventures with his family through the years. He loved being in the woods or on the water. He also enjoyed gardening, raising a variety of animals and working with his hands.
Earl was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Charlotte Harbor First Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man and a true friend to many. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Sharon Lea Goodwyne, daughter, Rebecca Goodwyne, son Earl Anselm Goodwyne III, daughter in-law, Laurie Goodwyne, grandson, Cody Goodwyne, sister, Brenda Dill, brother in-law David Dill and extended family.
Visitation and funeral services celebrating Earl’s life were held at Roberson Funeral Home located at 215 Mary Street in Punta Gorda, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, beginning with visitation at 10:00 am, and funeral service at 11:00 am. Committal with Military honors followed at 12 noon on Wednesday, at Indian Spring cemetery in Punta Gorda.
