EDWARD DENNIS EDWARDS, 96, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Signature Health Care of Port Charlotte.
Mr. Edwards was born November 29, 1915 in Birkenhead, England and became a U.S. citizen in February of 1938 and moved to Port Charlotte in 1983 from Lake Hill, New York. He became an Eagle Scout in 1921 and bragged he went to school with Frank Sinatra. Mr. Edwards was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army serving in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a salesman for a with Majestic Paper Corp., Alvaryes & Bishop Paper Co. in New York City & New Jersey for over 30 years. He was member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, where he was a active member of the Methodist Men’s group, member of Alpine-Tilden Lodge #77 F&AM, Tenafly, NJ and was a volunteer at Fawcett Memorial Hospital for many years. He will be missed.
Mr. Edwards was married to the love of his life for 74 years, Eleanor Wolven Edwards ofWoodstock, NY, who passed away in 2007. They had no children.
Memorial services will be held Friday 11 AM, September 7, 2012 in the New Room at the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Rev. Brian James will officiate. Interment with military honors was held in the Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock, NY. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book.
