Edward James Luther, 96, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, November 1, 2024, at Parkside Assisted Living and Memory Cottage in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Edward was born May 18, 1928, in East Providence, Rhode Island to the late Edward J. and Gladys L. (Jackal) Luther. He moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1988 from Attleboro, Massachusetts with his wife, the late Lucille Irene Luther. Edward worked in the air conditioning industry for 40 years as a tradesman, mechanic, and pipefitter primarily for Lutz Engineering and Carrier Air Conditioning and was a proud member of the Pipefitters Union Local 537. Edward and Lucille enjoyed their retirement together, travelling, attending family reunions, discovering cruising and entertaining friends and neighbors. Edward and Lucille shared a loving and beautiful life for 57 years; they were the love of each other’s lives.
He is survived by sister Marjory (Charles-deceased) Aldrich of Ocean Springs Mississippi; sister-in-law Rita (Robert-deceased) Luther of Discovery Bay California; predeceased by son James E. Luther (Jane) of Houston Texas; survived by James’ children Courtney and Kirkland; and survived by son Mark E. Luther and wife Debra Larsen-Luther of Parkland, Florida.
Services and entombment was held Wednesday 2:00 PM, November 6, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
