Edward Vincent Clucas, 92, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in his sleep.
Vinny, as he was affectingly known, was born September 12, 1924 in Revere, Massachusetts to the late William F. and Agnes Brosseau Clucas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, survived nine major battles, resulting in many commendations. He was a former member and retiree of the Metropolitan Police, Boston, Massachusetts for 35 years, serving as a detective, sergeant, state prosecutor, as well as being a breathalyzer instructor.
He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte, R.L. Cochran D.A.V. Chapter 82 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 2121 both of Port Charlotte. He was also a member of the Retired State County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts.
Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ameilia Coppola Clucas; a daughter, Jane ( Donald) Deragon of Port Charlotte; a son, Vincent (Lynne) Clucas of West Peabody, MA; three grandchildren, Amelia (Jason) Lombardi of Venice, FL, Nicholas (Melissa) Clucas of Boston, MA and Jason (Sarah) Clucas of Hamilton, MA; two great grandchildren, Damien and Dahlia Lombardi; a brother-in-law, Michael (Lorraine) Coppola of North Conway, NH; sister-in-laws, Marie Coppola of Revere, MA and Margaret Coppola of Hollywood, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, March 7, 2017 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, Florida 33952.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Edward’s memory may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
