Elaine E. Kinney (Jankiewicz) 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully at the Tidewell Hospice Inc. in Port Charlotte on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 after fighting a long fight with cancer.
She was born to Frank and Mary (nee Dudich) Jankiewicz on February 20, 1941 in Trenton, New Jersey. Elaine was married to Walter Curley till he passed away in 1996. In 1997 she married John F. Kinney and he passed away in 2007. Elaine graduated from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York with a BS. Later she taught in Hamilton Twp. New Jersey school system for 25 years retiring from Langtree School. She later moved to North Ft. Myers, FL. Elaine loved walking, reading, volunteering, music and travel. When married to John, they spent half a year in Derbyshire England and half in Florida from 1997-2009.
Elaine was a devoted member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte surrounded by her spiritual family. She helped as an outreach ministry, Tidewell Hospice, Prayer Ministry, money counter, Council of Catholic Women and Militia of the Immaculata. Elaine was a beautiful and kind person who loved the community and her friends. She will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Maryann (Jankiewicz) Scheliga, Mowery and her husband Terrance, Niece Jennifer Barone and Anthony, Nephew John A. Scheliga III,and Stephanie, Great nephew John A. Scheliga IV and Great niece Emma. Many cousins, good friends and neighbors.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held 11:00AM, Friday, August 16, 2024 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, FL.
