ELIZABETH M. WALDORF, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.
Elizabeth was born October 17, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Mary Gaul and grew up in Olean, New York. Everybody knew her as Betty. After graduating high school she attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Brooklyn, New York. Betty enjoyed all types of nursing, as long as she was helping others. She was last employed at South Beach Psychiatric Hospital for over 20 years. Betty worked as a nurse for 46 years, retiring in 2001 to Port Charlotte.
Betty enjoyed reading books, sitting outside, jazz music, old movies but most of all looking at pictures of her grandchildren and great – grandchildren. She also liked to going to the movies and eating out. Betty was loved by many and will be missed.
Survived by her loving family, daughters, Laura (Geraldo) Olivo of Port Charlotte and Karen Waldorf of Garwood, NJ; sons, Larry (Angie) Waldorf of Staten Island, NY and Mark Waldorf of Port Charlotte; sisters, Mary Kay (Roger) Deal of Berlin Center, OH and Judy (John) Deiner of Myrtle Beach SC; brothers, Very Rev. Thomas J Gaul of Hope Mills, NC, James ( Rebecca) Gaul of Arlington, VA, John Gaul of Lumberton, NC and Patrick ( Kathryn) Gaul of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren, Selina Hughes, Geraldo Olivo III, Robert Olivo, Anthony Balzano and Alyssa Keane; and Great Grandchildren, Cadance Hughes and Sophia Olivo.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:0O PM to 8:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:30 AM, July 23, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
