

Visitation will be held at Roberson Funeral Home in Port Charlotte on Thursday, June 9, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on 24411 Rampart Boulevard, Port Charlotte, Florida on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Committal will be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens cemetery on Forrest Nelson Boulevard. A luncheon will follow the burial.
Ellie (Ellas) Sklom, a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, went to sleep with the Lord on Friday, June 3, 2022.
Ellie was instrumental in starting two churches, Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Westchester, Illinois and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was a member of the Ladies’ Philoptochos for over 50 years at Holy Apostles and Holy Trinity. Until Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church was founded, she attended Holy Assumption Church in Fort Myers, Florida and participated in many church activities there. Ellie taught the Greek language for over 30 years at Holy Apostles and Holy Trinity and also taught children and adults privately in Illinois until she retired to Florida in 1986.
During World War II Ellie was interned on the island of Crete during the German occupation and participated in resistance efforts accounting for helping numerous very important British officers escape from German captivity, hiding them in caves prior to their being picked up by submarine.
She is survived by her husband George; daughter Elaine; son Emanuel (Mike); daughter-in-law Julie; grandson Ethan; granddaughter Mary; grandson-in-law Jose; and great grandchildren Henry, Adara and Ronan.
