Emily S. Naylor, age 94, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Bayfront Health-Punta Gorda.

Emily was born to the late John F. and Gertrude String, on November 26, 1921 in New Haven, Connecticut, and moved to Punta Gorda in 1979 with her husband, William H. Naylor, Jr., from Tifton, GA. A retired educator for children with disabilities, Emily and William raised two daughters, Emily and Louisa, and a son, William, and were members of Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Punta Gorda.

She is survived by her daughters, Emily N. Dyches of Wildwood, FL, and Louisa M. Naylor of Punta Gorda; a sister, Molly Fillion of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Benjamin S. and Richard T. Dyches; great grandson, John Pace Dyches, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by three brothers, her son William H. Naylor III, and her beloved husband of 60 years, William “Bill” H. Naylor, Jr.

A Memorial service will be held for Emily at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Punta Gorda. A private committal will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Emily’s name may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, FL Inc., 3519 Drance Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33980, or the Peace River Wildlife Center, 3400 Ponce de Leon Parkway, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
