Emma H. Johnson, 93, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Courtyard’s of Horizon in Port Charlotte.
She was born June 13, 1918 to Paul and Mable Hyde in Butler County Pennsylvania, the youngest of four children. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1937 where she was first employed in a bakery. She then worked for General Motors AC Spark Plug until she retired. She was married on August 24, 1946 to Harry L. Johnson. She was a firm believing Christian woman, a member of the Lutheran faith and upon moving to Florida was a charter member of the The Lutheran Church of the Cross, Port Charlotte, FL.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Reed of Manassas Park, VA and Joan (Francis) Brasseur of Port Charlotte, FL; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Janet) Reed, Timothy (Debra) Reed, David (Corrie) Reed, Cary Powell, Jeffrey Reed, and Curtis (Megan) Brasseur; 7 great-grandchildren, Riley Reed, Alex Reed, Nicholas Reed, Sawyer Reed, Jessica Brasseur, Gavin Brasseur, Juliet Reed and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Hyde and Mable Burkholder, her husband, Harry L. Johnson, two brothers, Harry Hyde and Eugene Hyde and a sister Hazel Ziegler.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, Port Charlotte, followed by a light lunch at the church. Inurnment will take place immediately following lunch at 2 PM at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.

The family thanks all her friends, the Church, and the Courtyard staff who cared and assisted Emma in so many ways.
