Eslyn Mabel Haughton-Downer, 67 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at her home in Port Charlotte.

Eslyn was born March 11, 1945 in Mt. Prospect, St. Andrew, Jamaica and moved to Port Charlotte 26 years ago from Hempstead, NY. She graduated from Jamaica Bible College in 1965 and matriculated through the University Hospital of the West Indies with a degree in nursing in 1969 and certification in 1971 as a midwife. Eslyn worked as a nurse for several hospitals including Hillcrest General Hospital in New York as well as Fawcett Memorial Hospital and Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte. She attended Community Life Center Church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Charlotte.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Victor; a daughter, Alethea Bonello of Riverdale, GA; a son, Hayden Downer of Port Charlotte; 2 sisters, Panseta Wallace of Birmingham, England and Eugenie Hall of Brampton, Canada and several other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Aubrey Haughton and her son, Kirk Downer.

Visitation will be held 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, 20035 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Port Charlotte, FL.

Friends may visit www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.
