Fannie Lou Parnell Smith, 86, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, in a local health care facility.
Fannie Lou was born in Sebring, Florida on June 5, 1921. She graduated from Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, class of 1939. Fannie Lou resided continuously in Punta Gorda since 1946 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 58 Punta Gorda. For many years she faithfully and cheerfully visited family, extended family and friends unable to leave their homes due to poor health, age or other infirmities.
She is survived by her loving children, Charles (wife Anita) Harless of Port Charlotte, FL, Becky Harless (husband Jeff) Grimm of Asheville, NC, and Ann Smith (husband Tom) Burke of New Cumberland, PA; one brother Sidney B. Parnell of Ft. Myers, FL; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her first cousin, Auline Wilkins Robinson of Punta Gorda. Fannie Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Bert C. Smith in 1985, and her parents, Maude and Travis Parnell in 1987 and 1988, respectively.
