Florence “Flossie” McNulty Kearney, 90 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Bayfront Health-Punta Gorda.
Flossie as born in Ocala, Florida on November 25, 1925 to the late Roy E. Ayers and Mary H. Martin Ayers and was the oldest child of four. She was an ancestor of Florida and Georgia pioneers on her maternal side and was a forth generation Floridian. The family lived in Leesburg where she graduated as Senior Class President at Leesburg High School. The family then moved to Melbourne where she met and married her future husband, Warren E. McNulty on June 26, 1948.
Flossie attended Florida State University for 2 years and graduated from the University of Miami with a Business Degree in May of 1948. She was also on the University of Miami Swim Team. During the 50s and 60s, Flossie lived in Punta Gorda with her two daughters, Toni and Anita, and her husband Warren who was President of the Punta Gorda State Bank (later 1st National Bank of Punta Gorda). She was an avid water skier, swimmer, tennis player and skeet shooter. She also had her Solo Pilot’s license and later became a Realtor. Flossie greatly enjoyed her annual trips to Europe with her sister-in-law, Mary McNulty Estes.
She is survived by her daughters, Toni McNulty and Anita Phipps. two sisters, Patricia Ayers Skinner and Virginia (Hugh)Ayers Anderson; and a brother, Col. Roy E. (Caroline) Ayers, Jr.; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Punta Gorda Chapel.
