Frank Marcus Bunn, Jr. of North Port, Florida passed away, Sunday, April 16, 2011 at his residence. Frank was born to Estell and Frank Bunn, Sr. on August 9, 1938 in Queens Village, New York. He grew up with his siblings, Betty and Ronald in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. As a youngster, he was bold and energetic. He attended PS 129 in New York, and after graduation, he attended Aviation School. Frankie, as he was fondly called, possessed a deep passion for aviation, and enlisted in the United States Air Force to follow his dream. He served as an USAF flight engineer and moved up the ranks to TSGT Technical Sergeant and continued in this field until he retired from the Air Force. Upon retirement, Frank joined the New York City Transit where he served as a bus mechanic and eventually became a supervisor. He loved his job and his coworkers, many of whom have remained dear friends over the years. He had a love for life and traveled extensively. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with George, Dave, Ronald, Malcolm and Mike. Added to these physical and social pleasures was his love for Bible study. He spent his retiring years searching the scriptures while a member of the Port Charlotte Seventh-day Adventist Church. After Frank retired from the New York City Transit, and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida. His interest in people and the community prompted him to be involved in the association for the New York City Transit Retirees of Florida, Chapter 11 where he later served as the president of the local and national chapters.
In 2000, he met and fell in love with Janice Emanuel and they were joined in marriage on May 20, 2002. Frank and Janice had a great relationship. Janice often described him as her greatest cheerleader. He was a wonderful, kind, and compassionate husband, and a faithful friend. They enjoyed fun times together traveling and cruising.
On April 16, after a brief illness, Frank passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his wife, Janice; daughter, Lisa Anderson; grandchildren, Tabitha and Malcolm; sister, Betty Ward; and brother, Ronald Bunn. Nieces: Renee Lambertson, and Kim Thompson; nephews: Craig and Kevin Ward, Anthony and David Bunn, and their family.Father in Law: Fitzroy Emanuel; sisters-in-law: Barbara, Deborah, and June; brothers- in-law: Kenneth, Charlton, and Nigel; and a host of other relatives and friends.Frank awaits the call of the Lifegiver on that resurrection morning. May his soul rest in peace.
