Frederick Frank Dragone, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 24, 2025.
Fred was the devoted and loving husband of Linda Ann (Gellatly) Dragone, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was born on June 2, 1945, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Antonio and Antonette Dragone. Fred was a proud graduate of Bunnell High School and Housatonic Community College.
A proud veteran, Fred honorably served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. Following his military service, he worked as an electrician for the Town of Stratford, where he dedicated 35 years before retiring. Fred was a lifelong resident of Stratford, Connecticut, until moving to Florida in 2001.
Fred was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. He especially cherished his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, bowling, and, most of all, spending Sundays surrounded by family. Fred was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Fred will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him, especially his beloved wife Linda, who never left his side.
In addition, he is survived by his daughters Annette (Tom) Whiting and Marianne (Chet) Chechoski, his grandchildren Elizabeth, Austin, Lauren, and Chet; his great-grandchild Colson; brothers-in-law Bruce (Kathy)Gellatly; Mike (Tilly) Gellatly; and his sister-in-law Janet Gellatly, his several beloved nieces and nephews; and of course, his sweet Dachshund, Bella. Fred was predeceased by his brother Tony (Maryanne) Dragone, and his sisters Sandra (Billy) Gellatly and Madeline (Raymond) Gellatly.
Fred’s legacy of love, service, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A graveside service and inurnment with Military Honors by the U.S. Army will be held Friday 12:30 Pm January 2, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
