Gary Allen Sansburry, age 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away to be with God on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, with his wife, Judy, and his two sons, Gary Eugene and Jeffrey Allen, by his side.
Gary was born on Friday, February 1, 1946 in Grafton, West Virginia, to the late Emmett Harold and Della Lee (nee-Iman) Sansburry. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gary retired from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. where he worked as an Engineer (HVAC) and Electronics Specialist (Fire Control). Previous jobs Gary held were Master Barber, Building Engineer and part time commercial crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay.
Gary loved his family and was a wonderful, caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Judy, sons Gary and Jeff; daughters-in-law Diana (Gary) and April (Jeff); 5 beautiful granddaughters, Dakota, Cheyenne, Skylar, Mariana and Anamaria; a sister-in-law, her husband, a niece and nephew. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by an infant brother, Emmett Scott Sansburry.
