Gilbert Lee Christopher, 76, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Monday, December 11, 2006 in Punta Gorda.

Born August 11, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana, Gilbert, a retired sales representative for the Asplundh Construction Corporation and long time resident of Maine, moved to Punta Gorda in 1995 from Jacksonville, Florida where he lived four short years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include his fiancé Dorothy E. Curit of Punta Gorda, three children, sons Gilbert Christopher, Jr. of AZ, and John Christopher of ME, daughter Candace McKay of VA, brother Toby Johnson of Punta Gorda, sister Valaria Lyman of Jacksonville, five grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

John, I am so very sorry that we lost your Dad, he was such a dear to be around and his zest for life is truly missed by all I am sure. I will never forget him and how he made my mother so very happy as I am sure she made him in their later years. He was the best thing that happened to her. I now start every day with pretty day, pretty day just like your Dad did. It didn't matter if the sun was shining or it was storming, he always saw something good in everything.
